Staff raised £822 for the Alzheimer’s Society

Staff at the Wolds Care Centre in Louth went on a five mile walk and raised £822 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Taking part were Denise Cullingford, Caron Davis, Caroline Smith-Green, Katie Garmston and Emma Kew.

They set off from the Wolds Care Centre and went down the A16, along St Mary’s Lane, through Westgate Fields, through Hubbard’s Hills, along the Horncastle Road, down towards Gospelgate through the town, through Town Hall car park through to the Co-op car park, Broadbank then through the hospital car park, High Holme Road, Mill Lane and back to the Care Centre.

It took them two hours to complete the walk. They had people sponsor them and took buckets on their walk to collect more money. The Alzheimer’s Society is dedicated to defeating dementia through research. They fund research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, to improve treatment for people today, and search for a cure for tomorrow. Only one in three people with dementia receive a diagnosis, preventing them from accessing the information, support and treatment they need. The Alzheimer’s Society’s researchers have developed new brain scanning techniques and are now working towards better, more accurate ways to diagnose dementia earlier.
