Life at the Moors

Wednesday, 22 February 2017

On Wednesday 25th January, we held a Burns Lunch for the residents.

We sourced Scottish bunting flags and balloons along with fun Scottish hats for the residents to wear.

Our wonderful chef cooked a fabulous traditional Burns Lunch. On the menu was Haggis, Tatties, Neap’s & creamed Leeks served with a whisky sauce.

Followed by a delightful Raspberry Cranachan.

We have several residents of Scottish origin, one of whom delighted the other residents by reciting the full address to a haggis off by heart (rather well I must add) he wore his full Scottish outfit including his kilt.

Everybody loved the meal, all plates where cleaned.

After lunch, we had another of Robert burns poems then music in the form of bagpipes, a lovely afternoon was had by all, we then had one of our regular music therapy chaps come in and had a good old sign song with the residents.

In the next few weeks we have Dignity Day which is themed around the 50s and a street party, all staff are encouraged to dress up and join in the fun, we are going to have dancing and party games.

We also have the Mayor and Mayoress of Ripon coming along to have a morning coffee with the residents.

On Valentine’s Day, we have Carla coming along to entertain our residents with her wonderful singing and poems.

We also have Lorretta coming in to do one of her lovely church services which she holds her at The Moors on a regular basis.

Every Thursday morning, we hold a coffee morning in the cafe for all residents along with a free raffle.
